5pm: Union Berlin vs Hertha Berlin – Union Berlin to Win

There’s a huge Bundesliga clash at the Stadion An der Alten Forsterei as Union and Hertha meet in a pivotal Berlin Derby. It’s a huge game for both teams for differing reasons.

The upstarts Union are having a tremendous season and are on the fringes of an unlikely European qualification spot while Hertha are enduring a nightmare season and sit above the relegation playoff spot by mere goal difference. Union’s home form has been the main catalyst for their surge up the table, they have only lost one league match on home soil all season, they are currently riding a 12-match unbeaten run at home.

New to Paddy Power?

By contrast, Hertha have been dismal on the road all season, Pal Dardai’s side have won only two of their 13 away games. Hertha are currently on a 9-match winless run away from home in the league and Union look like a good price to heap further misery on their local rivals.

Derby games are almost always tight, hard-fought affairs, Union beat Hertha 1-0 in the corresponding fixture last season and I can see a similar outcome on the cards here, back Union to Win and for them to continue their impressive home run.

8pm: Sevilla vs Atletico Madrid – The Draw

The game of the weekend in La Liga is from the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium as table toppers Atletico Madrid face a tricky encounter against Sevilla who are flying high in fourth place. Atletico Madrid have lost just one of their last 17 league games but Diego Simeone’s men face a tough examination against a Sevilla outfit that have lost just one of their last nine home La Liga fixtures, winning seven.

Atletico enter the weekend four points above Barcelona and this promises to be one of their toughest games in the run in. Sevilla’s home form is the main reason they currently occupy a Champions League berth, they have failed to score in just one of their last nine games at home while Atletico have drawn a blank in just one of their last eight on the road.

All the signs point to this being a very tight encounter between two in-form teams and The Draw looks the sensible bet here.
