Wales v Czech Republic

19:45 Tuesday – Wales v Czech Republic
Sky Sports Main Event

After the first two games in Group E Czech Republic lead the group thanks to their superior goal difference over Belgium. Wales have played just one game so far, a 3-1 loss away to Belgium last week. There’s very little between the sides in the odds here but Robert Page’s Welsh side will have to make a go of it. The Belgians will surely take three points against Belarus in their respective game and if the Czechs take all three points it’s going to spell massive trouble for Wales’ hopes of qualification. Let’s have a look for the Three Best Bets for this World Cup Qualification match.

Match Result: Draw

Wales have been in robust form since the last few months of 2019. Over their 18 matches since September 2019 they’ve lost just two matches, against England and Belgium. They’ve not exactly been beating the cream of Europe, Finland, Ireland and Bulgaria are some of the countries they’ve put to the sword but form is form and they’ll be all too aware that a loss here could already bring the curtain down on their World Cup qualification hopes.

The Czech’s form isn’t quite as good as Wales’ but they’ve faced stronger sides and in the same time period as Wales’ run mentioned above have beaten England and drawn with Belgium. They’ve been in the doldrums of European football for a few years but Czech manager Jaroslav Silhavy has put together a decent squad who aren’t shy of getting forward and getting in teams’ faces.

Wales’ home form has been mighty good, they’re unbeaten over their last 11 matches on home turf. It must be said though that of the three ‘best’ teams they’ve faced off against; Slovakia, Croatia and the USA, two of those matches ended level. The Czechs have won four of their last six on the road but that home Wales’ record is putting us off backing them to take the three points. The best value is in seeing the points shared here. We’re backing the Draw.

Both Teams to Score: Yes

While a draw looks like the most likely outcome here there’s still money to be squeezed out of a similar market. Both Teams to Score is still available at fairly high odds at the time of writing and we have to get on it. Over their last 26 home matches Wales have scored at least one goal in 24 of them.

The Czech Republic’s away scoring form isn’t nearly as good, they’ve netted at least one in 14 out of their last 21 matches on the road, however since Silhavy took over they’ve improved and have netted an impressive 13 goals over their last six away matches. We’ll be having some of these Both Teams to Score odds thank you very much.

Total first half goals: Exactly 1 Goal

Here’s a couple of interesting stats for you. Wales have scored one first half goal in seven of their last 10 home matches. The Czechs have been losing 1-0 in two of their last four away matches and have conceded at least one first half goal in six of their last 12 away matches.

With those stats you’d expect the odds to be a fair bit lower here so we’re getting good value and while we’re unlikely to see a goalfest between the sides here the fact remains that a loss for Wales could be disastrous for their qualification hopes so they’ve got to come out strongly. We’re backing exactly one first half goals here.
