Bolton to win

Bolton have overcome a very difficult start to life in League Two to launch a promotion bid at just the right time. The Trotters looked more likely to fall out of the Football League than win promotion back to League One at one stage, but they have rallied superbly to put themselves within touching distance of a return to the third tier of English football.

Ian Evatt’s side have taken 32 points from their last available 36 and have the opportunity to leapfrog Saturday’s opponents Forest Green and jump into the automatic promotion places with a win on Saturday afternoon.

Forest Green, on the other hand, have taken just eight points from their last six games – losing three of their last eight. Whereas the form of The Trotters has peaked at just the right time, Rovers have seen results dip at the worst possible moment and Bolton should have too much for them in this promotion six-pointer.

Eoin Doyle to score anytime

Bolton knew that they had signed a proven League Two goalscorer when Eoin Doyle joined the, last summer, and his goals have proved pivotal in their recent undefeated run. The Irish forward has scored more than double the number of goals than any other Bolton player and has netted crucial strikes in four of Bolton’s last six wins.

Doyle’s goals proved crucial to Swindon’s promotion last season and they could well do so again for Bolton this season as The Trotters attempt to begin their climb up the Football League ladder. As Bolton’s penalty taker, he is even more likely to find the back of the net in the early kick-off on Saturday.

Over 2.5 goals

Bolton have crucially managed to score in each of their last 12 games, while they have scored two or more on six occasions in that 12-game spell. They have also kept an impressive seven clean sheets in their last 12 games, but have conceded in three of their last four games.

Meanwhile, Forest Green have scored an eye-catching 11 goals in their last four home games and will pose a significant threat to the Bolton defence. Evatt’s side may need to score twice if they are to claim an all-important victory on Saturday.
