Friday

17:45 Dundalk v Finn Harps – Dundalk to win

I’m looking forward to week two, after some surprising results in the openers. Dundalk will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing result against Sligo Rovers last weekend when they only managed a point. Finn Harps picked up all three points against Bohemians which not many people expected.

However, given the contrasting results from both teams last weekend, I still expect a home win here for Dundalk.

19:45 Waterford Utd v Sligo Rovers – Sligo to win

I was very impressed with Sligo Rovers last weekend in their opening fixture. They have recruited pretty well in the off-season and there had been a lot of chat that they might do something really good this year and perform well in the league. Waterford are very much the unknown package.

Kevin Sheedy is a huge addition to the league. The issue that they have, however, is the fact that many of the players do not know the league. They will struggle all season for me, and I can’t see anything other than a Sligo win here.

Saturday

16:00 Bohemians v Longford Town – Bohemians to win

I was really surprised with Longford’s win last weekend beating Derry City. No disrespect to Longford, I just thought with the squad they have this season, that they would really struggle this term. They will be going to Bohemians full of confidence.

I fancied Bohs to be in the mix to win the league this season. It was another really surprising result to see them beaten against Finn Harps last weekend, but I think they will bounce back with a home win here.

16:00 St Patrick’s v Drogheda – St Pats to win

Coming up from the first division, I felt Drogheda signed really well in the off-season. They should have no problems staying in the division this season. Beating Waterford last weekend, they got off to a flyer.

St Pats put in a really good performance last weekend against Shamrock Rovers. That needs to be a common theme however, It’s not good enough for them to do it just once every so often. It’s consistency for them. The pressure is on the home side, but they should come through with the win.

Cawley’s Call – Bohemians, Dundalk and Sligo all to win

We got off to a tough start last weekend with our picks. There were some very surprising results so we’ll look to do better this time around. Bohemians should bounce back from their defeat last week, and grab a win. Likewise with Dundalk who only managed a point in their game. Finally, I’ll for Sligo to beat Waterford which is on Friday night.

Alan Cawley’s tips summary:

17:45 Dundalk v Finn Harps:
Dundalk to win
19:45 Waterford Utd v Sligo Rovers: Sligo to win

Saturday
16:00 Bohemians v Longford Town: Bohemians to win
