Tottenham Hotspur have been given a £50,000 fine for failing to fulfil their Europa League last-16 fixture against Dinamo Zagreb.  The North London outfit were due to play the second leg of the tie in Zagreb last night having comfortably won the home fixture 2-0.

However, the Croatian side were awarded a 3-0 win after Jose Mourinho’s men failed to show for the game.

A UEFA spokesperson confirmed Spurs have pleaded guilty to the charges.

“We acknowledge the decision made by UEFA having not turned up for last night’s match with Dinamo Zagreb”, Daniel Levy told Paddy Power News.

“I will personally pay the £50,000 fine using my change jar”, he added.

Meanwhile, the London club have also come under attack from the environmental organisation Greenpeace for the pollution caused by their unnecessary flight to the Croatian capital.

“The emissions from that flight will stay in the atmosphere for several centuries”, a spokeswoman for the organisation told Paddy Power News.  “If you’re going to impact the climate by flying to Eastern Europe then you may as well play the bloody football match while you’re over there”, she added.

In related news, Spurs back-up keeper Joe Hart has been forced to apologise after a post from his Instagram account wrongly announced he’d done the dishes.

The 33-year-old promised his wife he would take care of the washing up after a hearty cooked breakfast this morning.  A message on the story of Hart’s Instagram account, which has since been deleted, said ‘job done’ along with a stack on gleaming dishes on the draining board.

However, the former England international issued an apology to his wife a short while ago, saying that a member of his social media team had mistakenly published the post.

“Morning my darling, I feel like I need to come on and make an apology on behalf of social media team’, explained Hart.

“It has just been brought to my attention that someone thought that I’d washed the dishes. It’s obviously not come from me because as you can see the plates and pans are still stacked to the ceiling caked in grease”.

In a video shared to her own Instagram account, Mrs Hart responded by saying: “I’d wash the dishes if I were you. It’ll be your only chance of lifting a cup this season”.
