Paddy’s football ambassador Phil Thompson has turned his steely gaze towards Sunday’s action in the Premier League with the help of the good folk at PPTV. Arsenal face a tough task against Manchester City while Newcastle head to Manchester United in the late game. Thommo’s also offered up his treble which features both sides of Manchester and Leicester as they make the short trip to tackle Aston Villa.

I’m going to go for a treble on Sunday because I do fancy Manchester City to Win to Nil, Manchester United will Win so to get the value up a little bit I’m going to go for Leicester to Win as my treble.

Sunday 2.05pm: Aston Villa v Leicester
Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League

Liverpool battered Leicester last week for 75 minutes until that dreadful spell where Leicester turned it on and really showed their counter-attacking class.

So, I’m going to go for Manchester City, Manchester United and Leicester all to Win for my Sunday treble.

4.30pm: Arsenal v Man City

Did you see the smile on Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang’s face after the Leeds game? He was absolutely delighted. He was quite sensational. He was up for the game and I’m just thinking, was that flash in the pan? Arsenal have been better away from home than they have at home and they’re playing Man City next.

They’ve absolutely got the bit between their teeth. This is going to be one where I fancy City because of the run they’ve been on. 13 clean sheets they’ve had, they’ve only conceded 15 goals. I’m seeing this as a Man City Win to Nil and plenty of players rested for Man City.

Pep Guardiola rested John Stones against Everton and then you see Kevin De Bruyne retuning and it all just looks so healthy for Manchester City. Sergio Aguero will be back soon.

Sunday 4.30pm: Arsenal v Manchester City
Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League

He’s getting his rotation right, he’s resting players and, I would imagine, away from home, those big guns will be back for this one. For Arsenal, this is another season where they’ve lost 10+ games. In the last four seasons they’ve lost 10+ games.

I still think Mikel Arteta is searching for his best team. Yes, some of these young lads like Emile Smith-Rowe and Bukayo Saka look good players. But they need more experience and they’re a little bit of a way away from challenging.

THOMMO’S TIPS: I think this will be a Manchester City Win to Nil. I’m going to stick with Raheem Sterling to Score First. I think he will get one in those big, open spaces at The Emirates.

7pm: Man Utd v Newcastle

Newcastle are worrying me at the moment because yes, they’ve got a little bit of a space between themselves and the bottom three, it’s just the injuries that they’re carrying. Callum Wilson is a massive miss. Andy Carroll and Dwight Gayle are not the same level.

I fear for Newcastle in this one, I certainly think if they do concede in the first 10 minutes it could be very, very messy. They’ve only had two clean sheets in the last 14, Newcastle. They’ve lost 11 of their last 15 in all competitions.

With the injuries as well, Steve Bruce is putting out a patchwork side. Manchester United have scored 50 goals this year. I’m going for a big Manchester United win. Newcastle might get one from a set play but I do think this will be an easy Manchester United victory.

Sunday 7pm: Manchester United v Newcastle
BT Sport 1 and BT Sport Ultimate

Anthony Martial’s not done it yet, really, has he? I don’t know if he will get the nod or if Mason Greenwood will. Bruno Fernandes is one of those players who sometimes doesn’t get involved and then wham! He can light up a game with something very special.

I do think he’s a good player and I think he’ll get on the scoresheet becuase there’ll be a penalty or a free kick that he’ll take. I do fancy Marcus Rashford with a brace in this game.

THOMMO’S TIPS: I’m a bit worried for Newcastle here, I’m going for a big score line of 4-1 to Manchester United. I think Bruno Fernandes will Score Anytime and I fancy Marcus Rashford to Score 2 or More Goals in this game.
