Chelsea have been a revelation under Thomas Tuchel. He has brought in a possession game that has snuffed out all opponents, bar his opening draw as manager. Five wins and a draw is a superb return, which includes the high profile 1-0 win over Spurs.
Saturday 12:30 – Southampton v Chelsea
BT Sport 1
Crucially, his team have conceded just one goal in five matches. Southampton, they’re a different story altogether though and six losses on the bounce in the Premier League tells its own story. Luckily, their FA Cup run will keep their supporters happy, as their Premier League mid-table mediocrity doesn’t give them much to shout about – particularly after such a good start to the season.
The last eight head-to-heads have been won by the team playing at home, but I’m going against that grain here. Wasps cruised to a four-point win against Worcester last week having looked like they were going to win by a much bigger margin.
Saturday 15:00 – Leicester Tigers v Wasps
BT Sport 2
They’re playing great stuff lately, while Leicester had a bruising encounter when losing to Harlequins last week. Wasps winger Josh Barrett has his 100th Premier League start on Saturday after recently signing a new contract. I expect a big game from him, and I take Wasps to buck the recent trend to win what should be an entertaining encounter at Welford Road.
Leicester are my NAP bet of the weekend to beat Aston Villa at Villa Park on Sunday. Brendan Rodgers’ men will be full of confidence after their comeback victory against Liverpool last weekend. The Foxes are in third place now and will be desperate to get back into the Champions League after last season’s late flop.
Sunday 14:00 – Aston Villa v Leicester
Sky Sports Main Event / Sky Sports Premier League
Only Man United have bagged more points away from home than Leicester this season and with Jamie Vardy back to full fitness, I fancy The Foxes to keep their top-four push going at Villa Park.
