Manchester United have confirmed that club skipper Harry Maguire possesses a left foot after all.
The 27-year-old defender was undergoing a routine scan at United’s Carrington training campus when the medical team made the startling discovery.
It’s understood club doctors were trying to get to the bottom of Maguire’s sudden inability to remain upright in the opposition penalty area.
Many attributed his balance issues to a missing foot, having watched the England star perform 180 degree turns rather than pass the ball with his left.
However, a scan earlier today proved otherwise.
‘Much to the surprise of both myself and my colleagues, I can confirm Harry is the proud owner of one perfectly healthy – if criminally underused left foot’, United medic Dr Steph O’Scope told Paddy Power News.
‘Harry’s insistence upon always using his right foot led the medical team to believe the left sock might’ve been empty’
‘More recently he’s been having difficulty keeping his balance in the opposition’s box so we thought we’d do a scan’.
‘The results are a massive shock to us all, especially the boss’.
Discussing the findings with Paddy Power News, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said:
‘We couldn’t believe it but that’s football for you’.
‘Harry never complains so we just assumed he was playing through the one-foot barrier’.
It’s a welcome boost for the United boss after receiving a double blow on the injury front, with confirmation that Eric Bailly is out for another 6 months with a dislocated eyelash.
And Phil Jones has also returned to training, so more bad news there.
Despite the discovery of Maguire’s left foot, Manchester United CEO Ed Woodward confirmed he’ll be asking Leicester City for an £80m refund – just as soon as he can find the receipt.
‘Could’ve sworn it was in my wallet’, Woodward told Paddy Power News whilst rummaging around his desk.
‘Wish I’d used bloody PayPal now’.
