Paddy’s football ambassador Phil Thompson has got his teeth into Saturday’s early game as his beloved Liverpool head to Leicester in what should be a thrilling encounter. The Kop are in poor form and the defence of their Premier League title looks to be disintegrating, but does Thommo think they can get back on track at the King Power?
Leicester v Liverpool
It’s hard to split these two going in to this game and when you look this game last season I thought this was their outstanding performance [a 4-0 win], particularly away from home, for Liverpool. Is it that they like playing against this team, is it something to do with the way Leicester like to play?
Leicester are a very good counter attacking team and with that they like to defend deep. So, Liverpool will have to find a way around that again but I do think in the first half against Manchester City there were shoots of progress there, seeing how they played.
It wasn’t a great first half to watch but I do think Liverpool were up for it. This is a massive game, this is a really good opener for a Premier League weekend.
Saturday 12.30pm: Leicester v Liverpool
BT Sport 1 and BT Sport Ultimate
Leicester are a good outfit and Jamie Vardy’s back. I think he will probably start after his operation. But it looks as though he will be ready. They’ll be a bit disappointed about the result against Wolves with the 0-0 score line.
Wolves had a couple of chances to maybe get one over them. As you can probably tell I’m finding it very difficult to split these sides at this moment in time. Yes, Liverpool have had a couple of great results against Leicester recently but I think with the current form I’m going to sit right on the fence with this one.
THOMMO’S TIPS: I’m going for The Draw and Both Teams to Score. I’ll go with Jamie Vardy and Mo Salah both to Score Anytime as well. There’s goals in this game.
