Paddy’s ambassador and all-round good egg Phil Thompson has turned his steely gaze towards the best of the action in the Premier League on Saturday. The Liverpool legend discusses his favourite subjects – Manchester United and Everton – as well as Aston Villa v Arsenal and West Ham’s trip across London to Fulham.

12.30pm: Aston Villa v Arsenal

I’ve seen the goals from the Aston Villa v West Ham game and they were counter-attacks. That’s very unlike Villa to get caught like that. But they’re playing at home and wasn’t it quite sensational on the Wednesday in midweek with five away teams winning and then Chelsea doing it on the Thursday.

That tells you everything about fans not being in the stadiums. They’re absolutely massive. But Villa got sucked in and West Ham hit them on the counter and got a good win.

Saturday 12.30pm: Aston Villa v Arsenal
BT Sport 1 and BT Sport Ultimate

Villa are becoming a really good watch but they’ve lost four of their last six in the Premier League and they’ve only won two of the last seven at home. Arsenal are on a decent run.

The wheels came off against Wolves with the two sending offs. David Luiz’s one was pretty harsh and that was their first defeat in eight games. They’re getting better at the back with four clean sheets in their last eight and I’m going to go for an away win in this one. I think Arsenal will come up trumps.

THOMMO’S TIPS: I think Alexandre Lacazette will Score Anytime in an Arsenal Win and I think Both Teams Will Score. Ollie Watkins has done brilliant so I think Watkins will Score Anytime as well.

5.30pm: Fulham v West Ham

David Moyes is tipping Jesse Lingard to get back in the England squad already! It must have taken him about three years to score two for Manchester United and he scored two in his first game for West Ham!

Moyes can’t do anything wrong at the moment. Well, I did think he got his tactics wrong against Liverpool. I think he gave us too much respect and sat back hoping to hit on the counter-attack. But they are in a good vein of form. They’ve won seven of their last eight in all competitions and they’ve won 11 Premier League games already this season. They only won 10 in all of last season.

Saturday 5.30pm: Fulham v West Ham
Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League

They’re playing against Fulham who are, obviously, completely the opposite. No wins in 11 Premier League games and they’ve won just two of 21 matches.

For me, the biggest thing about this, is that Fulham have had no wins in 19 London derbies. I think it will probably be a little bit closer than what people are expecting but I do think Both Teams Will Score in this match. I’m going for a slight West Ham victory.

THOMMO’S TIPS: I’m going for a 2-1 victory to West Ham in this game with Michail Antonio to Score Anytime. I think it’ll be Bobby De Cordova-Reid to Score Anytime for Fulham. He’s done really well recently.

8pm: Manchester United v Everton

This is so tough to call. It’s hard to split these two teams. Everton have won their last four away Premier League games. They’re good on their travels and are unbeaten in their last six away.

How did you feel watching Manchester United beat Southampton 9-0 the other day? I know United fans will be elated but I was so uncomfortable because every time they attacked they looked like they were going to score! It could have been more than the nine.

Saturday 8pm: Manchester United v Everton
Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League

But, Man United, the four defeats that they’ve had have been at Old Trafford so that’s playing on your mind when trying to call this.

Yes, they won 9-0 but Everton are good away and that’s why it’s so hard to split these two teams. This is really difficult to call.

THOMMO’S TIPS: There will be goals in it and I am going for Desmond 2-2 in this one. Bruno Fernandes, because of his free-kicks and penalties, I think Fernandes will Score Anytime and Dominic Calvert-Lewin will Score Anytime after getting back on the scoresheet in the week.

Thommo’s Saturday Double

My double this Saturday is two London clubs on their travels and it’s Arsenal, they are in good form and I think they’ll get the better of Villa, and West Ham to Win. West Ham are in good form so my double is Arsenal and West Ham both to Win.
