I’m backing Manchester City to Win to Nil again this week. They’ve notched five Premier League clean sheets in a row, and have only conceded one goal in their last eight top-flight matches. You probably think they have to concede eventually, but it’s not as though they’ve been getting very lucky to keep these clean sheets. They haven’t given up an expected goal of over one since their 1-1 draw with Liverpool back on November 8.
Wednesday, 6.00pm: Burnley v Man City BT Sport 1/BT Sport Ultimate
On paper, their last 5 games have been nice; Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, West Brom, Sheffield United and Brighton. They’ve conceded seven shots on target in those five games, and Villa had four of those – most from distance. So they’ve shored up completely, and with the other teams faltering around them it’s no surprise to see them heavily odds-on in the outright betting now.
Burnley have ben going alright, but they were very fortunate to get their wins over Liverpool and Aston Villa. They don’t like this fixture though – Man City have won the last seven head-to-heads by a scoreline of 28-1.
I’m going to go with Fulham to win this one. Leicester don’t appear to be the same sort of proposition without Jamie Vardy, and his replacement Ayoze Perez just doesn’t offer the same threat going forward on the counter attack. They haven’t won either of the two games they’ve played since Vardy has been out, and the pressure starts to grow on them now to pick up results and stay in pole position for a top-four spot.
Fulham are getting there in terms of recent performances. They should have been out of sight against West Brom at the weekend, having completely played them off the park for the first half, but they need to get across the line and turn these draws into wins if they are to stay up.
Wednesday, 6.00pm: Fulham v Leicester BT Sport 2
They have a lot of quality in the team they are putting out now, with the front three of Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Aleksandar Mitrovic and Ademola Lookman able to cause problems for any defence. This is the best time of the season to be playing Leicester, and I think Scott Parker will be disappointed with anything other than a win here. The Cottagers are going to keep it tight and hope they can take their chances, and I think they can sneak this one. Fulham to Win looks a good bet to me.
