Watford are back in Championship action on Monday night with QPR the opposition travelling to Vicarage Road. A win for the hosts would move them level on points with Swansea as the battle for automatic promotion this season remains wide open towards the top of the table.
The Hornets have only lost one match at home this season with 10 of their last 12 matches in all competitions ending in under 2.5 goals. Having played out back to back 3-2 home victories against Stoke and Coventry, before a 4-1 win against Preston all in November, Watford’s last six matches at Vicarage Road have been low scoring affairs.
7.45pm: Watford v QPR – Sky Sports Football
Despite hovering just above the relegation zone, QPR have won two of their last three league matches and will certainly not make this easy for the home side. Mark Warburton’s team are unbeaten in their last five away league matches, including a 1-1 draw at leaders Norwich over Christmas.
Another tight match for both sides should be on the cards with home advantage perhaps just being enough for Watford to secure a narrow home victory. Troy Deeney looks the obvious player to score anytime having slotted home two penalties from his last three appearances. Elsewhere, a penalty to be awarded could be another nice bet with Watford receiving seven and QPR five spot-kicks so far this season.
PICK: Watford to win by exactly 1 goal

La Liga action on Monday comes from the Benito Villamarin Stadium where Real Betis entertain Osasuna with kick-off at 8pm. Betis come into this game following a four-game unbeaten run, which included an extra-time victory over Real Sociedad in the Copa del Rey last Tuesday. The home side are pushing for a European spot for next season with manager Manuel Pellegrini unbeaten in ten of his last eleven matches against Osasuna.
Betis have yet to play out a goalless draw this season and are scoring more than double the amount of Osasuna in recent games. The home side have netted 14 goals with the visitors only scoring six in their last six in all competitions. Jagoba Arrasate’s side return to league action having been knocked out of the Copa del Rey to Almeria on penalties and are desperate for points in a battle against relegation.
8pm: Real Betis v Osasuna – La Liga TV
They recently ended a 13-game winless run with a 3-1 home victory against Granada but are three points worse off than at this stage when relegated in the 2013/14 season. Sergio Canales is the man to watch in the anytime goalscorer market, having scored five goals in his last four-games for Real Betis.
In summary, the home side should have enough to outscore the visitors and make it four straight home wins against Osasuna and take all three points on Monday night.
