Football tips: Maddison can inspire Leicester to our 3 best bets v Leeds

If you were to think of two most irrational football clubs in England in terms of their on-field antics, you probably wouldn’t ever be more than a thought away from producing Leicester and Leeds.

It’s for this very reason that your otherwise droll Sunday now has the potential to be a blockbuster. One thing I do enjoy about the irrational nature of both of these clubs is that one of them is far more refined in their approach – at least with Leicester, they’re going at being ad-hoc and off the wall.

Leeds are very much a work in progress – a Shakespeare play in the middle of the Romantic era. Bodies everywhere, not much substance but with the occasional soundbite and an odd bloke with glasses everyone thinks is the king. But, nobody really knows what to do with them – traders included – and that’s largely because people know they can turn up and beat absolutely anyone in a convincing fashion and blow a book wide open.

So, I always like to stand by my convictions and presume it’ll work out long-term if I’m consistent. In short, Leeds are s***e. Here are three money-earners ahead of this frenzied 90 minutes of attempted football.

The Shorty: Leicester to Win

They have too much firepower and too many big clubs around them slipping up to not take advantage of this situation. Leicester aren’t firing full backs forward like they used to and that increased reliance on a front four was supposed to cost them long-term, but it hasn’t as of yet. That’s in no small part due to the form of James Maddison, who’s being spoken about in England conversations again.

I also reckon this represents good value, too. Leicester thumped Leeds 4-1 at Elland Road earlier in the year and the sides have gone in opposite directions since, much to Leicester’s benefit. I don’t really see the catch, especially as Leicester are both unbeaten in their last seven, winning four of those – including wins over Spurs, Chelsea and Southampton.

Value Bet: James Maddison to Have Two or More Shots on Target

I suspect with Jamie Vardy likely out, the reliance shifts somewhat to their creative midfielders – especially as Leeds generally vacate central areas at the most inconvenient of times despite what all logic would suggest to them.

Maddison is now in the home stretch of getting an England call-up ahead of the delayed Euros in the summer and in the form he finds himself, he’ll be firing from range against a Whites unit that just never seem to close down at the edge of the box.

Long Shot: Leicester to Score Four or More Goals in the Match

It happened before, so there’s no major reason it won’t again. This season, Leeds have shipped four to Liverpool, three to Fulham, four to Leicester, four to Palace, three to Chelsea, six to Man United, three to Spurs and most embarrassing of all – twice to Newcastle.

Generally, when it rains, it pours – and The Foxes move the ball quick enough to exploit the space left in behind for them over and over again.
