Championship action kicks off today with Norwich taking on Middlesbrough at Carrow Road at 12:30 live on the telly. This mouth-watering fixture has produced some classics over recent years and this match should be no different.
In 10 head-to-head encounters between the two sides, Norwich City hold the clear advantage. They have won seven games, lost two and drawn one. Daniel Farke’s side are on a run of three consecutive Championship victories and have picked up 25 points from the last 30 available.
The Canaries are unbeaten in their last 12 home matches, with their only defeat at Carrow Road this season coming against lowly Derby County in October. They currently sit on top of the league with Middlesbrough seventh in the table.
Saturday 12.30pm: Norwich v Middlesbrough Sky sports Main Event and Sky Sport Football
Norwich have won four of their last five games before losing to Barnsley last weekend in the FA Cup, while Middlesbrough are going quite poorly at present with only one win in there last five. The last five times these sides met the Canaries have won all on five occasions winning by a average of one goal.
Also, the last three times it has been 0-0 at half time but Norwich have managed to go on and win so Draw HT/ Norwich FT is the way to play. With the injury of inform striker Jordan Hugill, who was forced off at the weekend with a hamstring problem, we are likely to see the return of Teemu Pukki.
He has scored in two of his last three appearances so he could be worth a look in the goalscoring markets if he starts. The tip here for today’s PP News double is Norwich to Win but you could add Draw HT/ Norwich FT or Pukki to Score Anytime if he starts.
One of the 3pm games in the Championship today sees Nottingham Forest taking on Barnsley at the City Ground. Nottingham Forest come into this game on the back of a 5-1 thrashing from Steve Cooper’s Swansea last Saturday in the 4th round of the FA Cup while Barnsley had a 2-2 draw with Cardiff in the week.
Goals from Danish centre-back Mads Andersen and striker Cauley Woodrow saw them take the lead but they let that lead slip and it ended in a draw. Neither of these sides are particularly in great form and in the last 20 head-to-head encounters between the two sides, the record is fairly even.
Forest have won seven games, lost eight and drawn five. Forest have found some stability under the management of Chris Hughton and are 20th in the league table while Barnsley have been one of the better teams this season but their recent form has not been impressive. They have won the last three times these sides have met and will be keen to get back to winning ways. We round off the double with Barnsley to Win but you could juice up the price by adding Under 2.5 Goals in this one.
