Football Tips: Phil Thompson’s best bets for Fulham v Burnley on Sunday

Paddy’s football ambassador Phil Thompson has come out of hiding after Liverpool’s shock loss to Burnley in the week to take a look at Sunday’s FA Cup fixtures. He’s got the Kop’s conquerors, Burnley, in his sights as they travel to Fulham.

The Liverpool legend teamed up with the good folk at PPTV to preview Fulham v Burnley on Sunday and he’s served up two top tips for your consideration.

Fulham v Burnley

I think this one will be tight. You look at Fulham and admire them – they played so well against Liverpool, and we scored a late Mohamed Salah penalty to get a draw – but they’re not going to get a lot of goals. They had five draws on the bounce and beat QPR in the last round 2-0. But, against this rock-solid Burnley side, you just can’t see them getting a load of goals.

And with Burnley, they’re at hanging in there in games. 1-0 against West Ham, 1-0 against Manchester United and most surprisingly of all they somehow beat my Liverpool 1-0 in the week to end our amazing home run of going about 2,000 games unbeaten.

I think Burnley will turn this around in a very, very tight game. But both teams will score – I can guarantee you that.
