5.00pm: Manchester United v Liverpool

Manchester United to Win

The main thing to consider here is the teams. We’re not going to be seeing the same starting XIs that we saw last week in the league. Liverpool went full strength in the previous round against Aston Villa, but they didn’t have a game for nine days after that.

This time, they are coming into this game just two days after playing Burnley in the league. They’ve got a big away game against Tottenham next week as well, and now that they’ve dropped down to fourth I don’t think Jurgen Klopp is going to go full strength here. I think they will be rotating.

Sunday, 5.00pm: Manchester United v Liverpool
BBC One

United will rotate as well, but they were able to rest Marcus Rashford against Fulham during the week and they have Alex Telles and Scott McTominay who could come in. Juan Mata and Donny Van De Beek haven’t played a lot of minutes but they’re quality players as well. United have a bit more strength in depth and are rightly favourites for this one.

In hindsight, United may be happy with the point they got at Anfield last week but really they will probably feel they could have got the three points. They were definitely the better team in the second half and they’re not going to stand off Liverpool in this game. I think they will go for the win.

The United players will be more confident – Liverpool have only scored one league goal in the last four games. Liverpool looked more free-flowing earlier in the season and this is the first spell in few years under Klopp where we’ve seen a little blip from those front players. It will be interesting to see how it goes this weekend.

Marcus Rashford to Score Anytime

It’s hard to have any confidence tipping Liverpool up to win this one, especially with their away form this season. They have two away wins in nine games, with one of those early on in the season against 10-man Chelsea. They obviously want to win the game but I think Klopp will rotate.

United will rotate as well, but the players they can bring in – particularly considering the injuries Liverpool have – are of a higher quality. I think it will be close but I think United will shave this one.

I’m going to go for Marcus Rashford in the goalscorer markets. He’s a bigger price than Bruno Fernandes, and Bruno is more likely to be rested for this one and maybe come on in the second half. Rashford will be on penalties and free-kicks if that is the case, so I’m going with him.
