Tottenham and Jose Mourinho were left scratching heads after Wednesday’s home draw with Fulham and next up is a visit to Bramall Lane to take on Sheffield United this Sunday. Much was made of Fulham’s performance in that game, but the reality is that Tottenham could have been three up at half-time.
It’s not the first time Jose’s men have let a lead slip and going forward that has to be a worry. Sheffield United followed up a 3-2 victory at Bristol Rovers in the FA Cup by edging out 10-man Newcastle 1-0 with a dubious penalty at Bramall Lane. That was first victory of the Premier league this season for The Blades.
Sunday 14:00 – Sheffield United v Tottenham
Sky Sports Main Event / Sky Sports Premier League
The game itself was like watching paint dry and if the teams were still playing the score may not have changed. Chris Wilder’s side play some decent football at times, but they just don’t look like scoring and they face a fired up Tottenham side here. Also, the way Mourinho has Spurs set up leads me to feel that I’m not sure Sheffield Utd can come close to scoring in this fixture.
I can only see one winner in this fixture, but obviously Spurs are a short price, Sheffield United have just five points after all. Harry Kane is in brilliant form though, and his stats in all departments of the game are superb. The fact he is in such fine fettle, coupled with Tottenham’s comfort in defence, makes the bet here is Kane to find the net first.
Sunday 16:30 – Liverpool v Manchester United Sky Sports Main Event / Sky Sports Premier League
Manchester United travel to Anfield for a top of the table clash on Sunday. While that sounds good for United fans, I’m not sure many would have expected it and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men come into the game in superb form – with nine wins and two draws in the last 11 games.
On their side, Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp have only won four of the last 10 matches in the league and have failed to win in any of the last three fixtures. Aside from recent form, it shows the high standards they have set as a win on Sunday will still see them go back to the top of the table.
Solskjaer has more or less a full-strength squad to choose from, but Liverpool continue to have defensive woes with Virgil Van Dijk and Joe Gomez out long term. Fabinho and Jordan Henderson look set to fill in at centre half slots and this will give United’s front-line cause for optimism.
The same can be said, however, for Liverpool’s front three up against a Manchester United defence that’s weakness is a lack of pace and this contest promises to be a cracker. I don’t see Liverpool losing the game, but I can see Manchester United coming away with something.
