Football tips: Man Utd to pile misery on Sheffield United in 7/1 Bet Builder for Wednesday

PPTV broadcaster Carl Monaghan is expecting a big win for the hosts on Wednesday night.

Anthony Martial to score

Manchester United will have the bounce that only beating your most bitter rivals gives you when they entertain struggling Sheffield United on Wednesday. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side saw off the Blades back in December 3-2 at Bramall Lane and when they last met at Old Trafford were convincing 3-0 winners courtesy of a rare Anthony Martial hat-trick back in balmy June.

Marcus Rashford hobbled off late in the FA Cup win against Liverpool last weekend and that could see Martial back into the line-up. The Frenchman can frustrate at the best of times, but he has a good goal record of late against Chris Wilder’s men with that treble last season and another goal in the win in Yorkshire before Christmas.

We see time and time again the same players scoring against the same clubs, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang vs Newcastle the most recent example. So to get our Bet Builder off to a flyer I am going to put in Tony Martial to be an Anytime Goal Scorer against the Blades to get the ball rolling.

Over 2.5 goals

The next market I’m going to throw into the bet is Over 2.5 goals in the match. It is odds-on but well worth including this selection based on previous matches between these sides. Ole Gunner Solskjaer’s side have scored at least three goals in their last three matches against Chris Wilder’s side, and I don’t see any reason there won’t be a repeat here.

Premier League: Wednesday January 27, 8.15pm
BT Sport 1

Man Utd -1 (Handicap Betting)

My third leg of this Bet Builder is Man United -1 in the Alternative Handicap market. Sheffield United are likely to make it tight and tricky and will go ultra-defensive in their approach, so I would be recommending -1 instead of -2 on the handicap.

In their last two league games against United at Bramall Lane the Yorkshire side have managed to score five times, so they should have confidence in their ability to breach this United defence.

Bruno Fernandes to score

The next part of the bet just seems like an obvious one. Bruno Fernandes was the hero at Old Trafford last weekend scoring a free-kick late on to seal the 3-2 victory over rivals Liverpool. The Portuguese said he’d been doing extra work in training on his free-kicks when he learned he was being rested. Well, practice makes perfect as he took his goal from the dead ball position in brilliant fashion.

He was also unlucky not to get on the score sheet against Fulham last week when he hit the post having beaten the keeper. He’s full of confidence and will likely be instrumental in a home win here. He takes the penalties and now looks dangerous from dead balls too.

More top tips for tonight:

Man United to have 7 or more shots on target

My last piece of the bet is Man United to have 7 or more shots on target. With Martial in the side there is plenty of potential that he may have a few pops at goal before scoring. Also with the likes of Pogba and Bruno Fernandes liking to shoot from outside the box, we could see a busy night for Aaron Ramsdale in the Sheffield United goal.
