The first Saturday of 2021 looks like it’s going to be a belter of a day for football. We’ll be kicking off in Scotland with the Old Firm Derby, then in the evening we’re off to the Portuguese title race where league leaders Sporting are at home to Braga.

The Bundesliga returns this weekend after a shortened winter break, we’ll be looking at Stuttgart taking on RB Leipzig and finally we’re off to La Liga where Real Madrid are at home to Celta Viga. Let’s have a look at where we’ve found some value in the markets.

12:30 – Rangers vs Celtic: Both Teams to Score

Cetlic have enjoyed the spoils at Ibrox of late, winning both of their most previous visits. They come up against a Rangers side though that still have a 100% record at home in the league this season and have only conceded a solitary goal at home all season. Celtic’s away record in the league is incredibly good, they’ve now gone 19 matches without a loss on their league travels.

Having conceded just one goal over their home league matches, meaning they’ve had nine clean sheets, the odds are pretty high for Both Teams to Score here. The home side will surely score here, they’ve netted 32 over their 10 home matches so far but as solid as their defence is it’s hard to see them keeping yet another clean sheet against their auld enemy.

Celtic have 23 goals over their nine away matches this season, that’s an average of 2.56 and have scored 12 over their last four away matches alone. Decent odds here and we’re going with BTTS.

18.00 – Sporting vs Braga: Sporting to Score Over 1.5 Goals

Over the last 10 years Braga have only managed to beat Sporting once over their 13 visits to the capital in all competitions. Why are the odds on the home side so high? Well, Braga are in incredible form, they’ve lost just one of their last 10 in all competitions and are just five points off Sporting who currently hold top spot in the league.

Sporting though are incredibly tough to beat at home, they’ve lost just one of their last 15 home matches in the league and have only conceded four goals at home so far this campaign.

Sporting have scored at least two goals in 13 of their last 15 matches in all competitions and, looking at just home matches, have done so in nine out of 13 previous home matches. They’re averaging 2.40 goals per home league match this season and with those stats we have to go with Sporting to Score Over 1.5 Goals here.

19.30 – Stuttgart vs RB Leipzig: BTTS No Draw

As of yet Bayern Munich haven’t pulled away from the chasing pack in the Bundesliga title race and there’s a three-horse race going on between them, Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig. Leipzig could overtake both here should other results go their way and the market has very much made them favourites.

Stuttgart haven’t won a single home league match so far this season, drawing four and losing two while Leipzig have won two, drawn three and lost one. With them only winning two of their six and with Stuttgart’s record of four draws they could be in for a tough night here.

BTTS has landed in six out of six recent home league matches for Stuttgart and Leipzig have scored at least one in nine out of 10 previous away league matches. We should see both scoring here but both will be desperate for the win for differing reasons. With so much to play for this is unlikely to end in a draw so we’re going with BTTS No Draw.

20.00 – Real Madrid vs Celta Vigo: BTTS: No

We’re going against the market with this one as there’s some decent value to be had in backing BTTS: No. Real have conceded just five league matches over their seven home La Liga matches this season.

Celta Vigo are averaging 1.0 goals per away La Liga match this campaign but over their 10 most recent away matches against Real have only scored in four. Real have recently kept three clean sheets over their five most recent home matches in all competitions and while Celta are a decent side we’re going with the value odds here of Madrid keeping them scoreless.
