Champions League Tips: Our trader’s 3 you have to see for Leipzig v Man Utd & PSG v Basaksehir

Paddy's football trader Brian McDonnell joined forces with PPTV to take a look at Tuesday's Champions League action.

8pm: RB Leipzig v Man Utd

A draw will be enough for United to qualify but I don’t think it’s going to be easy for them. They’ll be wondering how they haven’t got over the line already after winning in Paris on matchday one and beating Leipzig 5-0 at home. And yet, they’re heading into this last game having to qualify.

I think United might live to regret that defeat in Turkey to Basaksehir because Leipzig can’t be as poor as they were at Old Trafford. United have had some unbelievable results under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but the performances are not as good as the results suggest.

If you keep putting in the same under-par displays then eventually results are going to catch up with you. On the surface, their away form in near perfect with five wins from five in the league, but it hasn’t been as comfortable for them as the results suggest.

At the weekend against West Ham, West Ham could have been out of sight until United had a great 10-minute spell in the second half. They relied on late goals to turn it around against Southampton the week before.

RB Leipzig to Win

RB Leipzig are a better team than the sides I’ve mentioned there. They drew 3-3 with Bayern Munich at the weekend and they’re only two points behind them in the Bundesliga, they were Champions League semi-finalists last season and if you look at their home form, they’ve won both of the Champions League home games this season.

They’ve won all five of their home games this season so I think I would rather have RB Leipzig to win than United to conjure up another smash-and-grab away win in the Champions League.

Emil Forsberg to Score Anytime

If I’m looking at a goal scorer for this game then I am looking for a Leipzig scorer and it’s Emil Forsberg, their No.10. He scored against Munich at the weekend and most importantly when you’re looking for a goal scorer, he’s on the penalties as well.

He scored one against PSG earlier in the group as well. Emil Forsberg to Score Anytime is a good value at the price on offer.

8pm: PSG v Basaksehir

PSG are not automatically there yet they know they need a win to guarantee progression to the knockout stages. I don’t think anyone can see past a PSG win here so I’m going to go with PSG to Win and Both Teams To Score.

They’re not taking any chances. Kylian Mbappe and Neymar were both rested at the weekend so they’ll be fresh up front coming into this game. I think they’ll win but I think they can concede as well.

It was always going to be a tough ask for Basaksehir in this group. They scored three times at home to Leipzig last week and were unlucky to lose it in the last minute. They’ve got some decent players and the likes of Demba Ba up front can certainly put away any chances that come his way.

Although no-one’s expecting an upset here and we know PSG will probably win this one, I think it’s worth having a go on the PSG win and Both Teams To Score.
