This game is screaming ‘DRAW’ at me, but let’s crunch numbers and see if my suspicions are correct. In three of Manchester United’s last four Premier League games there has been no more than one goal scored, with tight games against Chelsea, Arsenal and West Brom in the last few weeks.
United have had some decent Champions League results recently and they avenged that terrible performance away at Basaksehir during the week with a 4-1 victory back at Old Trafford. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are undefeated in their last 10 trips to Southampton but the key here is that United are very hit and miss at the moment. They’re also prone to poor performances directly after resounding victories.
Sunday 2pm: Southampton v Man Utd Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League
Southampton currently sit 5th in the table, four points ahead of their opponents this weekend and, under the stewardship of Ralph Hasenhuttl, they are shaping very nicely. Southampton haven’t lost a game since late September after being defeated in three on the bounce. Solid performances since then have elevated them in the league, but they will go into this fixture without the injured Danny Ings who is their main goal threat.
That being said, the Saints have kept clean sheets in their last three home Premier League matches and the Under 2.5 has landed in eight of their last 10 games. It is likely that Southampton will name an unchanged XI from last week’s score draw at Wolves. I appreciate that I told myself before starting that this would be a draw and I have ‘reasoned’ myself to that point and am sticking to my guns here.
Another bet I really like the look of here is for Oriel Romeu to pick up a yellow card. He has three in nine games this season and loves to get stuck in.
