Paddy’s football trader Jason Murphy has once again caught up with the good folk at PPTV to offer some insight as to where the value may lie ahead of the Champions League games involving the English clubs on Tuesday.
Chelsea and Manchester United are big favourites as Frank Lampard’s lads travel to Rennes while Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are hoping to right the wrongs of the loss last time out to Basaksehir at Old Trafford.
I’d be happy enough to tip up the Chelsea Win in this game. Rennes are in a poor run of form and they haven’t scored in their last three games whereas Chelsea have been excellent since the arrival of Edouard Mendy in goal.
In Chelsea’s last 10 competitive wins they’ve actually beaten the handicap so I won’t put anyone off juicing the price up. Chelsea (-1) will be about 6/4 whereas they’ll be odds on for the straight win. Based on everything we’ve seen at Stamford Bridge this season I’d be on a Chelsea Win for sure.
It’s hard to read Frank Lampard’s mind and see who’s going to play upfront but I’ll give the nod to Tammy Abraham to Score Anytimeas he’s scored in his last three.
Chelsea have a big game on Sunday against Tottenham so I could also see Frank giving Olivier Giroud a start. If Giroud gets the nod he’s our man to Score First.
Basaksehir’s win over Manchester United was a massive shock and it shouldn’t happen again. I don’t think it can for a couple of reasons. The first goal was absolutely shocking if you remember the Turkish side had a corner and there was no one left defending at the back. Absolutely shocking.
For the second Nemanja Matic was just shrugged off the ball too easily. But, the reasons why I don’t think it will happen again is that Victor Lindelof will start in this game and Fred, who does have his critics, does bring a lot to that Man United midfield at the moment.
I know Basaksehir are the Turkish champions but they’re in a terrible run of form this season. They’ve lost six of the 12 games they’ve played but at the price, I can’t tell you to back United just to win at the moment. They’re just too short. United should win but it’s an unbackable price.
Marcus Rashford to Score Anytime, this is the bet I’d be having tonight. For me, Marcus Rashford has been incredible on and off the field. There has been chat that he’s been looking a little bit tired but, if Rashford starts, that is what I’d be looking for.
If Rashford doesn’t start then I think Edinson Cavani to Score Anytime is a good bet in this game. United are going to rotate and use their squad and Cavani, in the minutes that we have seen, he has looked sharp.
If you put him up top in a game that United are expected to dominate, at the price on offer, then Cavani at the top of that attack would be well worth a look if he starts that game.
