Football tips: Che can continue Southampton revolution with this 11/1 Same Game Multi v Wolves

Southampton and Wolves is probably my favourite Premier League fixture. I don’t mean historically – I’m not a sadist – but I mean this year.

That’s largely due to the fact Southampton are this year’s Wolves. What I mean by that is they have a very defined philosophy; it doesn’t take an age to implement and they went ahead and trusted a manager to produce despite their lowly league position in the early days of his tenure and a 9-0 tonking on their own patch.

As a club, they fully deserve the success they’re currently seeing and more power to them. The Saints, alongside Spurs, are the form sides in the Premier League.

And the next stage for them is to achieve what I call a plateaux – which Wolves are experiencing at this very moment. We see Southampton as having a terrific year while the Black Country club are suggested to have regressed. And yet, a win over Southampton today sees them jump ahead of them in the league standings.

These are two clubs that play exciting football and both of whom are a breath of fresh air in terms of a league that is so often lacking organic good news. Here’s a Same Game Multi for a sneaky Game of the Year contender.

Southampton or The Draw

I don’t see a way in which they lose this game, because there are so many goals in the side. They haven’t been held to a single goal since a one-nil win over Burnley, and that was against a side putting ten behind the ball.

While I like the Southampton price a lot, given that we’re going for a Same Game Multi, I fancy the Double Chance just in case there’s a decision that goes against us, or someone, heaven forbid, uses an arm to point in a given direction and VAR deems it foul play.

Wolves are ambitious and they like to bomb forward, but the lack of a top-end holding midfielder has seen them struggle to clog lanes that, no doubt, Big Ralph will have spent the week planning to occupy in transition.

Over 2.5 Goals

While we’re on the goals train, I’d argue, outside of the title contenders, this fixture possesses the most deadly striking options in the league. Danny Ings, Che Adams and Raul Jimenez could all comfortably get on the bench for any of the big six and they’d probably push for playing time there too.

While Ings and Jimenez have been consistent, it’s definitely Che Adams who has been the biggest plus for Southampton so far this year.

And while we’re on the topic, Adams should benefit most from playing against a back three. He might have the same level of composure in front of goal as Ings, but his positioning is as good if not better.

In every game they’ve scored in this season – which is every one bar the opening day defeat to Palace – they’ve scored in the first half. They do not mess about.
