Honestly, we have no idea how our customers keep doing it! But, yet again, we were taken to the cleaners by an incredible accumulator over the weekend. It must have been one hell of a celebration for a Paddy Power customer from Conwy County in Wales though, as our winner somehow perfectly predicted the results of 12 (yes, TWELVE) football games on Sunday.
The acca featured games from the Premier League, Scottish Premiership, Scottish Cup, Italian Serie A, Dutch Eredivise and the Norwegian Eliteserien, and it saw off odds of 1,066/1 to come in. Like all multiple leg bets, it needed some luck to come in. But, after placing just an initial £2 stake to begin with, our victor had £2,134 in the back pocket at just after 9pm on Sunday night.
Let’s take you through the bonkers bet.

We start our trip across Europe in Italy as Udinese hosted AC Milan at 11:30 at Friuli, and this bet may never have got off the ground at all if it wasn’t for the great Zlatan Ibrahimovic. That’s because the giant Swede bagged an 83rd-minute winner for Milan to separate the sides and get the punt off to the perfect start.
After that we moved back to the UK for two games in the Premier League and Scottish Premier League at 12:00. Firstly, our victor backed Southampton to hand Aston Villa their second league loss of the season and things most have looked rosy in the garden when goals from Jannik Vestergaard, James Ward-Prowse (who grabbed a brace of stunning free-kicks) and Danny Ings handed the Saints a 4-0 lead in the 58th minute.
Villa made it nervy though and scored three in replay, but time ran out to leave the scoreline 4-3 in favour of Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men. Rangers did their part for the bet in Scotland too, scoring a 1-0 away success at Kilmarnock thanks to a first-half penalty from James Tavernier.
We then had a trio of games at 14:00 next on the betslip. Staying the Premier League, our winner required a victory for Newcastle over early Premier League pace-setters Everton and a brace from Callum Wilson secured just that. Then we hopped back to Italy, where a Cristiano Ronaldo-inspired Juventus battered Spezia 4-1 at the Stadio Dino Manuzzi to bring in the fifth leg of the acca. That was soon six-from-six when Molde toppled home side Mjoendalen 3-1 in Norway.
Hampden Park was the next port of call and beleaguered Celtic made it seventh heaven for our winner with a 2-0 triumph over Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup semi-final. That was swiftly followed by an easy 4-0 victory for PSV Eindhoven as they hosted ADO Den Haag at the Philips Stadion.
Over victor must have been starting to dream at 16:30 as Man United v Arsenal kick-off at Old Trafford. Our crafty customer had called an ultra-rare win for The Gunners away at a ‘Big 6’ rival and was rewarded 69 minutes into the match when Paul Pogba lazily fouled Hector Bellerin to give Mikel Arteta’s men a penalty. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang duly stuck it past David De Gea for the only goal of the game, which left our punter needing just three more legs to land the loot.
We jumped back to Norway for two of those games at 17:00 and Rosenborg kept the wheel turning with a 1-0 win against a plucky Start outfit, but there was drama just around the corner. That came in the contest between Kristiansund and Bodo Glimt as the clock ticked into the 89th minute with the pair locked at 2-2. Thankfully for our victor, Kasper Junker popped up with his second of the night to seal the positive result for Bodo Glimt needed to send the bet to its final leg.
That last game was at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as Spurs welcomed Brighton, and what followed was controversy galore. Jose Mourinho’s outfit hit the front in the 13th minute as Harry Kane won and then converted a very questionable penalty. Our victor must have been sweating when Tariq Lampey popped up to score another debatable goal early in the second half to put the Spurs victory left on the betslip into huge doubt. However, there was no questions about Gareth Bale’s 76th-minute winner as the on-loan Real Madrid man scored his first goal in seven years for Tottenham with a bullet header to send our customer into dreamland.
After correctly calling a stunning 12 results on the day we handed over the cash to our winner and with a bet like that, all you can do is tip your cap and say “well done”. £2k on a Sunday, that’s not bad at all, eh?
