Football Tips: Shots all round in our 17/1 Same Game Multi for Wolves v Palace

This one might turn out better on grass than it looks on paper.

Crystal Palace head to Molineux in high spirits as they take on Wolves on Friday night with Roy Hodgson’s boys looking to keep up their decent start.

We’ve got a slick 17/1 Same Game Multi bet lined up, and with Paddy’s acca insurance that means if one of our four legs doesn’t land, you get your stake back (up to £/€10) as a free bet.

Here’s what we fancy…

There was a funny thread on Twitter recently about people’s admittedly incorrect stereotypes when it came to football in England. While it’s clearly inaccurate, there are certain elements that I agreed with. For example, it used to seem like Crystal Palace never actually beat anyone outside the top eight in the Premier League; all their victories coming in games they’re not expected to win. Maybe it’s a Hodgsonism.

But they’re now commanding a bit more respect as a unit. While there aren’t many tricks up their sleeves when it comes to their approach, what Roy does better than most is motivate and organise.

Their downfall here, then, is that it’s hard to maintain both determination and focus in games they should win. But after victories over Fulham and Southampton, are they starting to become a side full of confidence?

Speaking of confidence – Wolves’ incredible season last year has somewhat petered out and they look like a team that are too good not to win games, but missing that killer edge they possessed last year. This, therefore, becomes one of those games where a draw truly does nothing for either side in developing their seasonal goals and turns this, somehow, into a cracker. Same Game Multi, anyone?

Over 2.5 Goals

Every shrewdie in the country was waiting for a slate of games to land us with a lack of goals because of the way the season started. And, while I can understand that we’re due a few stinkers, this game really doesn’t fall into the category.

And for the price of Over 2.5 Goals landing, I’m more than happy to take it, especially given both sides’ style of play. Wolves attack from wide and ping balls into the box – bypassing Palace’s strength numbers at the edge of their own box, and Palace leave two up top to break consistently when Wolves, who’ve been sloppier in possession than we’re used to seeing, lose the ball.

Raul Jimenez to Have 2 or More Shots on Target

What happens when things aren’t going your way? Your talisman shoots from all angles. And given his prowess in the air, you can be rightfully sure he’ll get his head onto a few crosses too – let alone the fact he’s on spot-kick duty, too.

One of the more shot-happy players in the league, Jimenez will be afforded space in the box as Palace generally attack the ball rather than the man. Raul Jimenez to Have 2 or More Shots on Target feels like the way to go.

Palace to Have Four or More Shots on Target

I wanted to go with three, but Palace are considerably more efficient in front of goal when they’re on the road. Given the amount of times they break, with Wolves lacking a six that can really help out the wide spaces when they’re caught out, Palace should have Have Four or More Shots on Target – not even factoring in set pieces.

Double Chance: Palace and the Draw

I really think they’ve turned a corner. Honestly – and while nobody saw Hodgson as more than a stepping stone to the next trendy manager coming in to change their ways – I think they might actually be en route already.

I see them nabbing a point they otherwise wouldn’t have last year so Palace and the Draw in the Double Chance market rounds off our acca-insured four-fold Same Game Multi.
