The Premier League returns (thank heavens for that, I hear you exclaim!) after what was yet another dour international break, particularly if you’re a fan of the Irish national team for whatever sadistic reason. The action kicks off with what is truly a fascinating clash between title contenders Everton and top-four hopefuls Liverpool at Goodison Park.
While that may be SOMEWHAT tongue in cheek, if Everton carry on how they have started they really will have to be taken seriously and their current price to win the league reflects that. Everton’s start has been outstanding. They have won all seven of their games in all competitions since grinding out a 1-0 opening day win at Spurs, scoring 23 goals in the six games subsequent.
Everton v Liverpool
Saturday 12:30, BT Sport 1
Carlo Ancelotti is a brilliant manager and it was a real coup for Everton to attract him, as they have been able to lure real star quality as a consequence. None more so than James Rodriguez, who has made a fine start to life in the Premier League, notching 3 goals and 2 assists in his 4 appearances thus far. Ably assisted by the free-scoring Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Everton’s firepower is very much to be feared and they have been a joy to watch thus far.
Liverpool have been left to mull over their trouncing at the hands of Aston Villa during the international break, which is far from ideal. While it can almost certainly be considered a freak result and a minor blip, there were some interesting takeaways from that game with regards to some potential flaws in their setup as mentioned in some parts of the media (hello Roy Keane).
They will, however, be buoyed by the return of Sadio Mane and Thiago is braced for his first Premier League start. They will once again be without Alisson, which further adds to the intrigue.

It’s been well documented that it is 10 long years since Everton last defeated Liverpool. But this time around it’s a whole different prospect, and this is reflected in the rather-hard-to-believe-but-unquestionably-fair-price of Everton to gain victory this time.
While I don’t feel it represents particularly great value at present, one thing I am quite certain of is that there will be goals – and hopefully plenty of them. As mentioned above, Everton have scored 23 in their last six matches in all competitions, conceding quite a few along the way. There have been 22 goals in Liverpool’s four games thus far, and one of the primary talking points this season has been the incredible amount of goals there have already been in the league this season. I feel the market hasn’t quite caught up with this anomaly just yet and that leads me to the first leg of an SGM we’ll throw out for this game.
Over 3.5 Goals
Over 3.5 goals seems too logical a play to be true and would be keen to back this at anything bigger than what’s on offer, even as a single let alone as part of an SGM.
Mo Salah to Score Anytime
Given that both teams will almost certainly score, and given their respective starts to the season, it’s a no brainer to add Mo Salah to Score Anytime to our bet.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin to Score Anytime
For this leg, see as above. You’d be hard-pressed to put anyone off backing Dominic Calvert-Lewin to Score Anytime given his ability to score with any part of his body and the regularity in which he’s doing so at the moment.
James Rodriguez To Have 1 Or More Shots On Target
James Rodriguez has had four shots on target in four outings so far this season, so adding him to have one or more here seems an obvious choice.
