There’s very little in the market between the two. I suppose when you look at the teams and compare the two as well, it’s very much 50/50.
They’ve had a similar run in the group to us, finishing third. Obviously, we finished third as well so it’s very close. What might help us, even though it’s an away game, is the lack of fans in the stadium.
I know Stephen Kenny’s started off quite slowly in the first two Nations League games, but a lot of the players were very much unfit and in pre-season at that stage. They’ll be a lot fitter now with four or five club gams under their belt.
I think Stephen’s message in terms of how he wants to play will be getting across a lot more now as well. I’m quietly confident. It’s a tough game away from home but I am quietly confident. In the betting Ireland are very much good value, I think
Slovakia v Ireland – Euro 2020 playoff
19:45, Sky Sports Football / RTE 2
Don’t be surprised if this one ends up a draw, there’s not much between the teams and it will be nip and tuck. There is good value in Ireland to Qualify.
If you’re asking me for a score, I think it will be 1-1 or 0-1. I don’t think there will be lots of goals in it and Ireland could make it through via penalties.
Losing Seamus Coleman through injury is a huge blow because he’s the captain and such an inspirational figure. He’s had such a brilliant start to the season at Everton as well, he’s been really good.
If he had been fit, I think he and Matt Doherty would have both played but with Seamus injured it’s an easy decision to play Doherty at right full back behind Callum Robinson.
Don’t be surprised if Robinson nicks a goal. He’s had a very good start to the season with West Brom, he’s very lively and creative so I think he’ll get his opportunity and Robinson might be good value as the First Goalscorer.
There’s value with Aaron Connelly as well but I’d stick with Robinson as he’s the man in form from that point of view.
