After Manchester United’s shambolic 6-1 battering at the hands of their former manager Jose Mourinho and his Tottenham Hotspur side on Sunday, and the failure to land top transfer target Jadon Sancho and a new central defender on deadline day on Monday, Paddy’s football traders have been weighing up how bad things could get at the Theatre Of Nightmares this season.
The wheels look to have well and truly fallen off whatever Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was at the wheel of, and we think time could soon be up for the Norwegian. In fact, it’s odds-on that Solskjaer is out of a job by Christmas Day.
That’s the most likely event in our traders’ list of calamities that could occur at United, though it could actually be the best possible outcome for them in the long term.
We’re less certain the ex-striker will get the boot before November 1st with the international window possibly extending his stay by a couple of weeks.
United’s captain Harry Maguire is the same odds to be left out of England’s Euro 2020 squad because of poor form and those holiday blues hanging over his head.
In better news for United fans, we think there’s a good chance chief exec Ed Woodward will be ousted by the end of the season. However, a much-more worrying sight would be Bruno Fernandes’ odds of an exit are only just longer than Ed’s are in the same timeframe.
The Red Devils are the same price to finish 11th or lower this term as they are to not win a single major trophy in the next five seasons.
We’ve got a shorter-than double-digit price on Edinson Cavani’s stay at Old Trafford being a brief one and he’s tipped to follow the well-trodden path from Old Trafford to Serie A next summer.
United have a tricky-looking Champions League group and if you fancy them to finish bottom of it Paddy’s traders have drawn up a price for that and for them to fail to win a single game in this year’s competition.
Alex Telles signed with Cavani on deadline day and he’s at 14s to move to Italy while it’s long odds that Cavani will be a complete flop and fail to score or assist this season.
