Pep Guardiola has described yesterday’s 5-2 drubbing by Leicester City as probably the worst performance in the club’s illustrious 12-year history.
The 49-year-old gave a brutally honest assessment of his side’s destruction at the hands of WKD-swilling striker Jamie Vardy who bagged himself a hat-trick.
‘We played for 30 minutes so good. Then we played 60 minutes so sh*t’, the Spaniard told Paddy Power News.
‘I guess you could say it was the worst City have played in the 12-years since the club was founded’.
‘There have been some dark days. Like when they spent £30m on Wilfried Bony. But this eclipses even that’.
‘The only positive we can take from this is all 7 of our fans weren’t allowed in the stadium to witness it’.
And Guardiola reluctantly conceded the title race was over after just two games.
‘I’d like to congratulate Liverpool on winning the league today’.
‘I look forward to seeing Jordan Henderson’s Insta pics posing with two Premier League trophies and the cycling proficiency badge he received 22-years ago’.
City fans flocked in their ones and twos to social media to call for Guardiola’s shiny head following the defeat.
‘I haven’t seen a performance that bad since I supported Chelsea’, tweeted one furious City fan.
‘This type of result’s been a long time coming. I’m gonna say it first… #PEPOUT’, he added.
Meanwhile, Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers praised his players who made it 3 wins out of 3 to go top of the table.
‘I’ve a squad filled to the brim with wonderful humans and great characters’, said Rodgers with that manic look in his eye.
However, the Northern Irishman is remaining grounded after last season’s slump during the run-in.
‘I told the boys in the dressing room not get carried away’.
‘We made a good start last season then dropped down the table faster than Bruno Fernandes in the penalty area’.
