Football tips: Our fab 4/1 double for Sunday’s Scottish Premiership ties

This Old Firm double could be delightful if it lands.

Both Rangers and Celtic tasted success in their midweek Europa League clashes, although Celtic had to work a bit harder for their victory than their great rivals. But, both now will be looking ahead to their Scottish Premiership clashes where they face Motherwell and Hibs respectively.

The Gers are just one point ahead of Celtic at the top of the table, but should they lose here and Celtic win, then the Bhoys will take top spot in the league.

Let’s have a look at the betting markets to see if we can squeeze some value out of these Scottish Premiership encounters.

12:00 Motherwell v Rangers: Both Teams to Score: No

Unlike Rangers and Celtic, Motherwell were booted out of the Europa League midweek after a 3-0 mauling at the hands of Israeli side Hapoel Beer Sheva.

They’re not on a great run at the moment, they’ve won two, drawn two and lost four of their Premiership matches so far. Their recent home form has seen them lose two, draw one and win two.

Rangers have won six and drawn two of their league matches this season and have won four, drawn two and lost one on their travels in all competitions. The market is heavily backing Steven Gerrard’s side here and they’ve not lost in any of their seven most recent matches at Fir Park, winning five and drawing two.

What has really stood out about Rangers so far this season is their record of seven clean sheets over their eight league matches and comparing that to Motherwell’s home scoring record, which stands at just three over their four home league matches. Rangers will be confident of keeping them scoreless, just like they did last in both December and April last season.

15:00 Celtic v Hibernian: Celtic to Win & Both Teams To Score

Celtic were made to work hard by Riga during their trip to Latvia midweek and it took a 90th minute goal from Norwegian midfielder Mohamed Elyounoussi to get the Celts through to the next round of the campaign.

The home side are obviously massively-fancied to win this match and looking at Hibernian’s record at Celtic Park it doesn’t make good reading. They’ve not won there since 2010, a run of 12 competitive matches – with The Hoops winning nine and three ending all square.

Hibs though are on a decent run of away form, they’ve won all four of their away matches in the league this season, scoring nine and conceding just one.

The Jack Ross-led outfit have failed to score in two out of three recent league visits to The Bhoys it must be said, but this season they’ve shown they can hit the net on the road.

While Celtic don’t concede many at home, Hibs’ recent record suggests that they should be good for at least a goal.
