Football Tips: Our super 16/1 5-fold acca for Saturday’s big European games

Plenty of elite action across Europe this weekend to get your teeth into.

Ohh, European football is properly back this weekend. We have Germany’s Bundesliga returning, Italy’s Serie A is back and Portugal’s Primeira Liga is starting too.

It’s like the night before Christmas around these parts and we’ve taken a look at the five best matches from Saturday’s European action to find a very healthy-looking Five-fold Acca packed with value.

17:30 Dortmund vs Monchengladbach: Erling Haaland to Score and Dortmund to Win

Dortmund get their season kicked off at home to ‘Gladbach and all eyes are going to be on Erling Haaland. He was one of the highlights of last season, scoring 13 in 15 league matches and two in three in the Champions League. Maybe he’ll take a game or two to get back into the swing of things?

Well, over the recent Nations League matches he scored three goals over Norway’s two matches. He’s raring to go.

Over the last 15 visits of ‘Gladbach to Dortmund they’ve managed to win once, all 14 of the other matches ended with the home side winning and while there’s not much value in backing the home side to win, we think there’s decent odds to be had backing Haaland to Score and Dortmund to Win.

19:45 Verona vs Roma: Both Teams to Score

Verona finished a very respectable ninth while Roma finished just outside the Champions League places in fifth. Verona’s success can be put down to their home form where they won nine, drew five and lost just five. Away from home last season Roma had one of the best records in the Serie A, winning 11, drawing three and losing just five.

Roma have held the upper hand here over the past few seasons, winning three of their last five at the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi, two of which were draws. Indeed Verona haven’t beaten Roma in any of their eight most recent visits, four of those being draws. Both Teams to Score landed in seven of those eight matches though and while Roma have the better team here on paper we cannot rule out a draw so we’re backing Both Teams to Score.

20:00 Rennes vs Monaco: Both Teams to Score

Both of these teams come into this match unbeaten in France’s Ligue 1 with both having won two and drawn one of their three matches. Rennes have the better goals record though, scoring seven and conceding four, while Monaco have scored five and conceded three.

There have been three draws here over previous meetings with both teams winning one each over their last five meetings at Roazhon Park. BTTS has landed in four of those five and with both teams in good scoring form and conceding a few too we’re backing that BTTS trend to continue.

20:00 Celta Vigo vs Valencia: Over 2.5 Goals

Celta Vigo began their La Liga campaign with a lacklustre 0-0 draw away to Eibar. Valencia, on the other hand, were 4-2 winners at home to Levante. The home side have held the upper hand in previous meetings here, winning three of their last five meetings in all competitions.

Valencia have only won one and one ended all square. Three of those five saw Over 2.5 goals, four saw BTTS landing. Valencia should buck the trend here and win but Celta are good enough for at least one so we’re going with Over 2.5 Goals.

21:00 Porto vs Braga: Porto to Win

Braga pulled off one of the shocks of the season when they beat Porto 1-2 here last season, it was their first league win at Porto since 2005. Porto’s home record in the league is outstanding, they’ve lost just one of their last 15, winning 13 and drawing one.

Tempting to go with a Handicap bet here but with it being the first game of the season Porto could be a bit rusty so we’re just going to go with the home side to win.

All five of these picks into a five-fold Acca will give you odds of around 16/1. All odds correct at time of publication.
