Southampton won 2-0 the last time they played here back in January in front of a packed Selhurst Park crowd. Palace didn’t have a single shot on target that day and Southampton went off 7/4 for that match.
If you take into consideration there will be no intimidating crowd here for this game, the fact Southampton have improved considerably since then and that Palace have gone in the wrong direction… For me, at odds against, Southampton to win this weekend is the best bet you can have.
I’m really concerned for Palace this season. I think they’re 50/50 to go down and they’re around 2/1 in the market so that’s a really good ante-post bet.
Seven of their wins last season came by one goal and those are fine margins to be playing with at the wrong end of the table. But, Southampton to win at Selhurst Park. It’s the NAP of the weekend, for me.
Danny Ings finished last season as strongly as anyone with seven goals in his last nine games and Danny Ings to Score First is who I’d be on if we’re looking for a goal scorer in this game.
James Ward-Prowse is a dead-ball specialist and is slightly longer in the market if that’s what you’re after, but I’m sticking with Ings here who is favourite in the market and rightly so.
