Premier League Golden Boot tips: Forget Aguero, Kane and Salah – it’s time for our trader’s value bets

This season could mark a changing of the guard at the top of the Premier League goalscorer charts.

Our football trader Jason Murphy has teamed up with PPTV once again to try hunt down any value in the Premier League outright markets with the season set to kick-off on Saturday.

This time he’s delving deep into the markets to see who’s going to be top of the goalscoring tree come May and who might be a great each-way shout.

You can see Jason’s preview below and read on to see his best bets for the Premier League top goalscorer 2020/21. Make sure you also run the rule over Jason’s best value EPL outright bets.

Premier League Golden Boot 2020/21

The Premier League golden boot is a fantastic one to try to price and try and call. The way I can point you is to avoid Sergio Aguero.

Don’t get me wrong his goal-scoring record is phenomenal and if you tell me he plays 31/32 games for City this season, then he wins the Golden Boot. But that’s the concern I have with him, the injuries.

Mohamed Salah is a bit short for me to be honest. He had a phenomenal first season at Liverpool where he shot the lights out. His goal return was still fantastic the last two seasons but he’s only hit the likes of 21/22 goals. I think you need someone who’s going to get 25/26.

Timo Werner

At the front of the betting I’d go for Timo Werner. He’s going to play central in a front three at Chelsea. Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech are probably going to play on the wings meaning Werner can play through the middle.

Willian was on penalties but he’s left Chelsea now so if Werner is handed the gig, and he had a fantastic record at RB Leipzig, I think he can get to that 25/26 mark.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin (e/w)

At a bigger price, looking outside the front of the market, I’d go with Dominic Calvert-Lewin at a hefty price as an each-way bet. He’s been very good under Carlo Ancelotti since he took over. Not so great after lockdown but he’s still been getting chances.

Heung-Min Son (e/w)

You could also take a look at Heung-Min Son. He’s notched up 11, 12, 13 goals consistently but the last two seasons he has missed six or seven games through injury. If he stays fit I can see him getting 18/19 goals which pushes him into being a good value each-way bet there.

Plenty of options there. Unfortunately, I’d say don’t get sucked in by Aguero and Werner is probably the value bet there, but there’s a couple if you’re looking for something at a bigger price each way.
