Iceland v England tips: Our trader’s deadly double as Three Lions look to banish Euro 2016 demons

England are expected to crush Iceland, there's no way they'd lose to that lot, right?

Heimir Hallgrímsson Gareth Southgate

Paddy’s Football Trader Brian McDonnell spoke to PPTV to preview the Nations League matches which are coming up over the weekend.

We don’t know if you remember, but England were actually humiliated by tiny Iceland at the Euros in 2016. Oh, you do remember.

Can the Icelanders pull off another miracle? Check out Brian’s preview below and read on to see his tips for Iceland v England at 5pm on Saturday.

England will be out for revenge, though only two players remain from that 2016 squad for England and the other 23, you have to say, are probably an upgrade on those who have moved on.

With that in mind…

England to Win

It’s a new look and fresher England team that Gareth Southgate has built over the last few years and they’re blessed with some exciting players. Mason Mount and Mason Greenwood are set for debuts and they’re two of the most talked about Premier League players from last season.

England tend to do well against the teams that they’re expected to beat – it’s when they’re underdogs that they struggle.

Kane celebrates after scoring

Iceland have been punching above their weight recently, and find themselves fortunate to still be in Group A of the Nations League after keeping their place despite relegation last time thanks to a reshuffle. England will have too much quality this time and they’ll win.

Under 3.5 goals

England have been scoring goals for fun, averaging 4.5 goals in their last six games. I don’t think they’ll score four here though as Iceland are very solid, especially at home. I have to go with England to win, but I’m going to add in Under 3.5 goals as a DOUBLE.
