Sevilla go into this Europa League semi final on Sunday at 20:00 as third favourites to lift the trophy next Friday night. Their opponents Manchester United and Inter are ahead of them in the betting. That strikes us as a little odd seeing as the Spanish side have won it five times over recent years, but they are coming up against one of the giants of European football here in Man United. We’ve had a look at the markets to find a Same Game Multi bursting with value.
Sevilla to Qualify
Sevilla haven’t lost a single match over their last 19 in all competitions, a run of 10 wins and nine draws. United are also in great form, over their 19 they’ve won 13, drawn five and lost one. Sevilla have certainly had a tougher route to the semis, having to beat Roma and Wolves over their two most recent matches in the competition. United had to get past Copenhagen and LASK Linz, quite a difference in levels there.
What’s swinging us here towards Sevilla to qualify is their record in the Europa League, every time they’ve gotten past the quarter finals they’ve gone on and won the competition. Add to this the fact that Sevilla beat United 2-1 on aggregate in the 2018 Champions League with more or less the same group of players in both squads. Formwise they’ve had the harder route and tougher matches to prepare for this semi-final.

Pretty decent odds here for two teams in good goal-scoring form. Why are they so high you might be wondering? Well, both teams have been keeping a decent amount of Clean Sheets of late, Sevilla in particular. However, this being a semi final both teams quite obviously have to score to get into the next round.
Sevilla don’t score loads of goals but they defend incredibly well and keep the score down. They’ve scored 13 over their nine most recent matches and conceded just two in all competitions. United are in better goal scoring form with 19 goals over their nine most recent matches, however they conceded nine. While Sevilla obviously have a very good defensive record it’s hard to see United not scoring here, they certainly have the firepower and no doubt will have enough opportunities to get at least one. So, we like Both Teams To Score.
Over 2.5 Goals
Again, we’re getting very decent odds here. As said above Sevilla have scored 13 over their nine most recent matches, United have scored 19 and are conceding plenty as well. With this being a one-off match, and neither team having the option of trying to get a sneaky away goals win, both just have to go for it here and while Sevilla do have a great defensive record they’ve not come up against a free-scoring team like Man United for a while.
The market is against us here as the odds are suggesting Unders but both teams have already qualified for next season’s Champions League so can play with some abandon here as neither needs to win, it’s really going to come down to who wants a shot at the trophy again. Sevilla can almost claim ownership of it thanks to winning it so many times but United will be desperate for some silverware too after finishing the season in very good form. With so much to play for we think we’re looking at goals here so we’re backing Over 2.5 goals.
