Finn Harps had a really good win against St Patrick’s Athletic in the FAI Cup on Monday, but I reckon their manager Ollie Horgan would have preferred to save that victory for the league. Realistically, the Donegal outfit are not going to win the cup and in the league they’ve been struggling for points.
Harps have lost three on the bounce now, and this is massive game for them at home to Bohemians on Saturday. Bohs have been in brilliant form since the games restarted and they scored a huge win over champions Dundalk last week.
They are sitting second in the league standings and I fully expect Bohs to continue their hot streak with three points here, despite the long trip to up to Donegal.
Derry’s results has been mixed post lockdown, they disappointingly lost to Sligo at home on the first game back. However, they grabbed a very good win away at St Pats and played very well against Shamrock Rovers in the FAI Cup, losing that one narrowly.
I reckon Derry have enough to score victory in Dublin again here as Shelbourne have been out of sorts of late. They should be in a relegation scrap towards the end of the season and Shels have only picked up one win in their last three games.
I’m backing Derry City bring the points back north.
Shamrock Rovers have opened up a nice big gap at the top of the table, they have six points to spare on Bohemians and eight points in hand over Dundalk. With only 11 games to go and a sprint finish ahead, Rovers are in pole position to claim the title.
They’re in such good form coming into this and they’ve won all seven of their League of Ireland games to date. Rovers are sure to be looking to continue that winning trend on Sunday at Richmond Park and I believe this is the game of the weekend in the league.
St Pats have the makings of a good team, but they can be very inconsistent and that’s their big problem this season.
If Pats play like they did against Dundalk a few weeks ago, I believe they can take points off Shamrock Rovers though. It will be interesting to see how it plays out, but I reckon we could see a draw.
