Sir Alex appointed VAR special guest for United v Chelsea FA Cup Semi

United stars have already gone ahead and recorded their FA Cup final song with Olly Murs.

Sir Alex Ferguson has been appointed the special guest video assistant referee for Sunday’s FA Cup Semi-Final clash between Manchester United and Chelsea.

The legendary Scot will review decisions made by match official Anthony Taylor to ensure United progress to the showpiece final at Wembley. It will be the former Manchester United manager’s first appearance in the video operation room and it’s an opportunity he’s relishing:

‘A’m delighted tae be officiating Sunday’s game against those Chelsea bastards’, he said with a wry smile.

‘Ah haven’t forgotten th’ time thay pumped us 5-0 at Stamford Bridge. Even that lanky gabshite Chris Sutton scored that day’.

‘Then again, we did have Tiabi in nets. He wis the maist embarrassing thing a’ve seen at Auld Trafford since Moysie’s ‘Chosen Yin’ banner’, he chuckled.

When asked if he’d any prediction for Sunday’s game, the 78-year-old was confident United would get the job done.

‘Ah fancy us tae win 1-0, wi’ the goal comin’ deep intae Fergie Time’, he grinned while clicking his famous old stopwatch.

Upon hearing the news of Ferguson’s appointment, United stars went ahead and recorded their FA Cup final song with Olly Murs. The track, ‘Olly & Ole Are at the Wheel’, entered the charts at No2 but after a VAR check it was installed as No1.

Recorded at United’s Carrington Training Ground, Murs and United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer belt out a duet while Alexis Sanchez provides accompaniment on the piano. During the music video, Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard execute a collection of Fortnite dance routines while Phil Jones tries to coax his teammates into forming a mosh pit.

Speaking of the experience, Manchester United fanatic Murs said:

‘I’ve worked with some wonderful singers down the years. Wagner, Chico, Honey G to name but a few. But Ole’s right up there with the best of them.

His yodel solo had Ed Woodward in tears’.

In other news, Frank Lampard is erecting 50-foot-high electrified fences around Chelsea’s Cobham Training Ground following Leeds United’s promotion to the Premier League.
