Football tips: Our three best bets for Sunday’s Bundesliga matches

Who needs Super Sunday when you have the Bundesliga eh?

pjimageBundes3

Sunday’s Bundesliga action mostly involves teams at the wrong end of the Bundesliga table, many of them desperate for the three points on offer to keep them out of the relegation fight going on below.

That should mean plenty of goals for us and plenty of opportunities in the markets, can we find some value though?

Let’s get to the bets!

Werder Bremen vs Wolfsburg: Wolfsburg to Win

Sunday 12:30

Werder blew it midweek in their match against Eintracht Frankfurt. Things had been on the up for them and it looked like, for a moment anyway, that they were going to be able to climb out of the relegation zone. Momentum was on their side, but Frankfurt put them to the sword in the second half and grabbed the three points.

The bottom of the Bundesliga though lacks quality and Werder could still do it. However, that midweek defeat was crushing and it’s hard to see them getting the three points here against a Wolfsburg side that have taken 13 points from a possible 15 over their five most recent away league matches.

Werder’s home record makes for dire reading; of their 12 most recent home league matches, they’ve won zero. They’ve scored just one goal in their seven at home. We should see another away win for Wolfsburg and yet another defeat for Werder here, so we’re backing the away side.

Union Berlin v Schalke: Anytime Correct Score of 1-0 to Union

Sunday 14:30

When two bad teams play you get a good match right? Right? Well, we’ll see. Union Berlin haven’t won any of their last six league matches. Schalke have gone 11 Bundesliga matches without a victory. It’s not possible to bet on both teams losing here, but man if we could, we’d be tempted.

Joking aside, Union have a decent enough home scoring record at 1.36 goals per game, but they’re conceding 1.36 per game too though. Schalke’s scoring record is just 1.14 on average on their travels and 1.71 conceded on average. With those stats, Both Teams to Score might be tempting, but Schalke have only scored one away goal over their six most recent away matches.

Union are just four points above the relegation zone though and need the win to put some distance between themselves and both Mainz and Fortuna Dusseldorf below them. Union should score here, so we’re backing a 1-0 Anytime Score.

Augsburg v Koln: Over 2.5 Goals

Sunday 17:00

These teams find themselves just above the relegation zone, and with both not exactly restarting their campaign with the best results, they could both really do with the three points on offer.

The home side’s scoring record is quite good though, they’re averaging 1.79 goals per match and conceding 1.64. Koln are scoring 1.43 and conceding 2.29 on average on their league travels.

11 of Augsburg’s last 14 home games have seen Over 2.5 goals landing and the same 11 of 14 applies to Koln away matches. With both sides scoring and conceding plenty, as well as both being in need of the three points on offer here, we should see goals.
