Football Betting Tips: Norwich to make a fast start on Friday in this 9/1 bet

Norwich should get used to Friday night games as they'll have a few more of them in Champtionship next season. They can still test Leicester though

Norwich v Leicester

Friday, 8pm, Sky Sports Main Event

This weekend.s action kicks off with some Friday night football, as goal-shy and Championship-destined Norwich host a Leicester side who, despite still sitting relatively pretty inside the top four, have struggled somewhat for form of late.

This can mostly be attributed to the goal drought of their talisman Jamie Vardy, who hasn’t found the net since December 21st. He will no doubt fancy his chances this weekend, however, and this is reflected in our rather skimpy odds of 8/11 for him to score anytime, and 13/5 to score first.

This does leave the door open for some potential value elsewhere.

It’s really hard to argue against Norwich already being down, and despite their points tally somewhat belying their performances at times, their away form is simply awful as mentioned in last week’s piece, and they deserve to go down on that basis in my humble opinion.

Their home record isn’t exactly great either – they are joint worst with West Ham in this department – however, their goalscoring record at Carrow Road makes far prettier reading than their away goalscoring record (18 vs 6). I fancy this to be quite an open contest given Norwich’s predicament, so that’s where the suggestions will focus…

Despite there being under 2.5 goals in Norwich’s last three home games, there were some outliers here – red cards and an epic but ultimately failed defensive effort against Liverpool. In their five games previous there were over 2.5 goals and I fully expect this trend to return Friday night.

While the odds of 6/10 on over 2.5 goals is not very appealing, we can look to combine it with a couple of other selections and build a half-decent Same Game Multi.

As mentioned above, Norwich have been in reasonable goalscoring form at home, averaging 1.38 goals per game, so we can add both teams to score at 6/10 as well. Norwich have come out of the blocks pretty well at home too this season, and have scored first in an impressive six of their last seven home league games. It’s worth adding them to score the first goal at 8/5 in any multiple too.

While Vardy is a relatively short price to score, this is the ideal game for him to end his drought. Another interesting stat is that Todd Cantwell has managed a shot on target versus Liverpool, Man City and Tottenham this season, so the 10/11 about him to have one this weekend greatly appeals.

Combining this with all of the above, that is Both teams to score, over 2.5 goals, Norwich to score first, Vardy to score anytime and Todd Cantwell 1+ shots on target, gives us a very tasty and tempting looking 9/1 on the Same Game Multi.

That’ll add nicely to the Cheltenham bankroll…
