Transfer news: Traders reveal 4 likely deals, including Arsenal & Spurs moves

We’re hours away from the transfer window slamming - or meekly closing - shut.

Despite what any particular yellow strip on any particular news channel might say, it’s been more dead than deadline this transfer window.

But there’s still time for deals to be done – and our traders have revealed all to PP News on the ones most likely to get over the line.

At the time of publishing, all four were odds-on shots which, to the untrained eye, means they are all deemed highly likely to go through.

Olivier Giroud to Inter Milan – 4/6

We were most sure of the Frenchman moving on, as this deal was at odds of 1/7 – making it an 86 per cent chance of going through – but overnight there have been murmurings of the former Arsenal forwards showing up at Tottenham (7/2).

Inter’s transfer strategy has been a revolutionary one in recent months. They sign players with familiar names who were once good in the Premier League. If you’ve got a long memory.

Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez and Ashley Young have all signed on with Christian Eriksen joining them this week from Spurs.

Next stop: Olivier Giroud? Inter boss Antonio Conte is the man who brought Giroud to Stamford Bridge and he is keen to bring the striker to the San Siro.

Christian Benteke to Aston Villa – 5/6

Villa want Benteke – is it 2012 all over again?

Liverpool completed one of the worst deals in Premier League history when they signed Benteke for £32.5million. I say ‘one of’ – for it wasn’t the worst. That honour goes to Crystal Palace who spent the same amount on the goal-shy Belgian a year later.

Anyway, now he could be on his way back to Villa Park.

He’s been made available by Palace following the signing of Cenk Tosun – and the striker could be the readymade replacement at 5/6 for record signing Wesley, who’s out with a season-ending injury.

Danny Rose to Newcastle – 8/11

Had to laugh at the story I read about this man earlier.

‘Rose has accepted the time is right to leave Spurs,’ it read, ‘having previously vowed to run down the final 18 months of his contract until summer 2021’.

Nothing to do with the fact Jose Mourinho – a keen player of our Daily Jackpots game, may I add – would rather stick pins in his eyes than pick Rose in his matchday 18.

Anyway, we think he’s off to Newcastle and we make it an 8/11 chance of coming in.

Granit Xhaka to Hertha Berlin – 5/6

There’d be tears around the Emirates if this one went through. Tears of joy, that is.

Xhaka’s agent claimed the midfielder agreed terms with Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin in December – and we’ve heard nothing since. Who’d have thought we couldn’t taken the word of an agent?

Mikel Arteta has since claimed he pair held positive talks about the Swiss international’s future but don’t rule out a move before the deadline.

We make it 5/6 for Xhaka to say ‘auf wiedersehen’ to Arsenal this month.
