We’ve just over the halfway point of this season’s Champions League group stage and things are hotting up with many teams going into this game week with do-or-die fixtures. It’s all to play for with just two games to go following this round and some teams can take a step closer to Istanbul here with positive results. We’re taking a look at the Tuesday night fixtures here for a tasty treble.

Liverpool vs Genk, Tuesday, 8pm

Liverpool made hard work of their away win over Aston Villa at the weekend, needing two late goals. The Reds haven’t been scoring a huge amount in the league of late, where they’ve won four of their five matches by a single goal. However, in their last two Champions League contests and of course, that humdinger against Arsenal in the League Cup, they scored an incredible 13 goals and conceded nine.

There are plenty of rumours about whether Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will rotate players here to save them for Sunday’s top of the table clash with Manchester City at Anfield but with Napoli one point ahead of them in the group, Liverpool need the win on Tuesday to keep up with them.

Genk could be in for a hiding here, but their one secret weapon is Mbwana Samatta. The Tanzanian striker has six goals in 13 league matches this season, has one in the CL and scored nine in 12 Europa League matches last season.

The Belgian side have nothing to lose, Liverpool still need to keep pace with Napoli, so we’re forecasting an open and hopefully free-scoring game.

Chelsea vs Ajax, Tuesday 8pm

Chelsea pulled off a nice result away to Ajax in their last Champions League match, beating them 0-1 thanks to a late Michy Batshuayi goal. Frank Lampard’s side are on a great run of form of late, they’ve won eight of their last nine matches, scoring 24 goals and conceding eight. Should they win the match here they’ll be able to put some distance between themselves and Ajax and Valencia.

Conceding those eight goals is the kink in their armour though as despite playing some great football, they have shown naivety at the back.

Ajax are on a great run too, that defeat by Chelsea was their first in 16 games and they’ve scored 12 in their last five matches in all competitions. Whoever wins will take a step closer to ensuring qualification for the next round.

Dortmund vs Inter, Tuesday, 8pm

Dortmund welcome Inter to the Westfalenstadion for their crunch Group F match. Both teams are now scrapping it out to finish second behind Barcelona, who will surely have crushed Slavia Prague in the early kick-off. Inter won the reverse fixture a few weeks ago, where a lack-lustre Dortmund only managed to get two shots on goal over the 90 minutes.

Dortmund will need to make good use of home advantage and go all out for the win as they face Barcelona away next. Inter manager Antonio Conte though knows a thing or two about winning on the European stage and you’d expect the Italian side to conjure up the dark arts to try and frustrate Dortmund.

Selection: Both teams to score @ 4/6

*Prices correct at time of publication and the treble comes to around 15/4 or just over 3.75/1.
