Jose Mourinho has been waiting for the right job to come along since leaving Manchester United last year, and punters think the Emirates could be his next destination.
Paddy Power have slashed the odds of the Special One being named next Arsenal manager from 20/1 to 11/2 this morning, due to a large number of bets.
He has also been linked with taking over from Mauricio Pochettino at Tottenham – where he is rated 7/2.
Also in the running to be next Arsenal boss is favourite Mikel Arteta (7/2), Patrick Vieira at 5/1, Nuno Espirito Santo, Massimiliano Allegri (both 6/1) and Brendan Rodgers (7/1).
Emery is currently the third-favourite in the Premier League sack race at 5/1, with Ralph Hasenhuttl rated most likely to be next manager gone at 6/4, followed by Marco Silva at 3/1.
Asked about the situation at Arsenal spokesman Paddy Power said: “Mourinho has been out of work since his Old Trafford exit, and looks to be waiting for the right opportunity before he gets back into work – our TV advert aside, of course.
“We’ve seen a sustained period of betting on him to take over from a struggling Unai Emery, with the thought of winning major trophies at three English clubs too tempting for his ego.”
