Dom Gall: Twitter’s raging reaction to Kieran Tierney’s Arsenal switch

It's been talked about for months, but that didn't make the news that Scotland's other great left-back was moving on Deadline Day any easier for some

Arsenal have today confirmed the signing of Scotland’s Kieran Tierney from Celtic. At a fee believed to be £25m, he becomes the most expensive Scot of all time.

It’s fair to say, based on their reactions on Twitter, Arsenal fans are fairly excited with their latest signing. Although, with the club taking their time with this and the rumoured Luiz deal, fans were getting worried

I’ve tried to find some of the best Twitter reactions for your reading pleasure, however, as 99.998% of them contained at least F words, C words or a mixture of both, it’s been a struggle. Anyway, here’s my attempts at some PG laughs. I’ll start with a reaction from The Office, because they’re always funny.

It’s been a long old day for Celtic fans, and indeed a long old month, as the Tierney deal has dragged on for far too long. It’s safe to say it has taken its toll on the fan base, even if the club have decided to carry on like nothing has happened…

There’s a lot of very funny things about this – unless you’re a Celtic fan – and the SPFL winding them up with this TBT is definitely up there…

Having lost their golden child, I hope the club invest some of that £25m in some counselling for the heartbroken supporters. It gets worse for them, given Tierney deserted them only months after Brendan Rodgers moved up in the world. It seems regardless of how much you give to the club, there’s no pleasing some people

It’s funny how quickly your people can change their opinions on someone…

I have also enjoyed the number of tweets I found during my search from a few weeks ago, when the deal appeared to be dead. Wonder how many are being deleted as I type…

The poor Celtic fans thought you couldn’t put a price on ten-in-a-row.

Turns out you can, it’s just £25m!

Spare a thought for this kid who has had his morning ruined by his Dad deciding to wake him up to break the news. Not only has his hero left him, but he’d had his long lie ruined in the last week of the school holidays for no reason as it wasn’t confirmed until late afternoon. Then, spare another thought for him, as his Dad is a man who would tweet this…

The funniest part of all of this, without a shadow of doubt, is that the Celtic fans have overreacted SO badly that none other than DT has decided to try and be the voice of reason.

For those who don’t know, DT is the very, very angry man off of ArsenalFanTV. How angry? This angry…

All in all it’s a terrible day to be a Celtic fan. You’ve lost the love of your life and now Rangers are another step closer to retaining their crown as Scotland’s finest.

No doubt they’ll be out invading a pitch somewhere to celebrate the news…
