England’s victory over Argentina on Friday night wasn’t the only potential winner this summer – as the Lionesses have inspired a record-breaking amount of bets on the Women’s World Cup.

There have been a massive increase in stakes, according to Paddy Power, when compared to the last time it was held in 2015.

The number of bets are already up more than 50%, with Phil Neville’s Lionesses the best backed side as England fever sweeps the nation.

Spokesman Paddy Power said: “In a busy summer of football, the Women’s World Cup has come to the fore for our punters – who think football might be coming home, again.

“We’ve seen an unprecedented number of bets versus 2015, and expect interest to soar as the Lionesses progress through the tournament.”

TO WIN THE WOMEN’S WORLD CUP:
9/4 USA
11/4 France
6/1 England
6/1 Germany
