Odds fall on Wenger to AC Milan following Gattuso departure

Following the announcement this morning that Gennaro Gattuso is set to leave AC Milan after his side failed to qualify for the Champions League, we have slashed the odds of a familiar face taking over.

Arsene Wenger’s odds of moving to Milan went from 20/1 to 7/1 following the announcement, where he could reunite with Ivan Gazidis at the San Siro.

The pair worked together for nine years, and Wenger has been out of work as a manager since leaving Arsenal at the end of last season.

Also in the betting is Lazio boss Simone Inzaghi, Marco Giampaolo (both 7/2), Leonardo Jardim (11/2), Max Allegri (7/1), Eusebio Di Francesco (10/1), while Antonio Conte and Carlo Ancelotti are rated less likely (both 20/1).

Asked about Wenger heading to Italy spokesman Paddy Power said: “The departure of Gattuso from AC Milan this morning has seen the odds fall sharply on Arsene Wenger taking over, to link back up with Ivan Gazidis and get back into management.”

“While Simone Inzaghi and Marco Giampaolo are our joint-favourites, Wenger is our biggest mover in the market by far.
