So, the inevitable has happened at Old Trafford as the club confirmed on Tuesday morning that Jose Mourinho had left the club ‘with immediate effect’.
The Portuguese gaffer departed on the back of an embarrassing 3-1 loss to Liverpool at the weekend that left them 19 points behind the Anfield outfit. That was the straw the broke the camel’s back for United’s American owners and they sacked Mourinho in the middle of his third season in charge.
Manchester United has announced that Jose Mourinho has left the Club.
We would like to thank him for his work during his time at Manchester United and wish him success in the future. #MUFC

The news comes on the back of United’s Champion League draw against Paris Saint Germain and they’ll now have an interim boss at the helm for that tie as the hunt for a permanent successor will be done in the summer.
The announcement of Mourinho sacking looks to be an early Christmas present for United fans given the reaction to it and they flooded the club’s official Twitter account with replies after it came.
As always, the meme game and hot takes were plentiful and we decided to put together some of the best of them below for you:
Left the club my arse. Just say you sacked him. The entire club is a joke! From top to those pre-Madonna so called players. I’m done.

If you had
Or one opportunity
To seize everything you ever wanted
In one moment
Would you capture it?
