Going for the Panenka penalty always comes with the risk of utter embarrassment and Luton’s Danny Hylton found that out in a big way on Saturday…

Luton Town’s Danny Hylton must have woke up a relived man on Sunday morning after he had a nightmare moment for his club the afternoon before.

That’s because Hylton attempted Panenka penalty went horribly wrong for Luton the previous day in their away League One contest with AFC Wimbledon. The Hatters have been performing above all expectations and sit in the Play-Off places after their promotion from League 2 last season.

Midfielder Pelly Ruddock gave Luton the lead on Saturday with a close-range finish and then Hylton had his time to shine when he was taken down in the box six minutes later. Wimbledon goalkeeper Joe McDonnell was having none of it though and held his ground, allowing Hylton’s dinked penalty to drift harmlessly into his grateful arms.
