Watch: Ireland’s goal of the season is sealed with utter thunderbolt

You may not see a better goal all week then the one Ian Morris scored for Bohemians against Cork City on Monday night in the FAI Cup…

Being that’s it’s an international break, we’ve been forced to cast our footballing nets further than usual in the search for action.

What we caught in those nets is a wonder strike in Monday night’s FAI Cup semi-final replay between Cork City and Bohemians.

Cork went into the break with a two-goal lead thanks to strikes from Graham Cummins and Karl Sheppard, but it was a second half consolation goal from Bohs that stole all the headlines post-match.

As the visitors struggled to get back into the contest, Bohemians’ Ian Morris had enough of waiting and strode forward from defence to unleash a ferocious shot from all of 45 yards.

Cork’s keeper Mark McNulty just about managed to get a finger on it, but there was no way he was keeping it out of the top corner. It took a little while to allow it after the ball took a funny hop out of the net, but thankfully the officials gave it in the end as it was clearly over the line.

Unfortunately for Bohs, they were unable to find a leveller and Cork will battle it with Dundalk in the FAI Cup final on November 4.

Luckily, the RTÉ camera crews were on hand to capture Morris’ moment of magic and you can enjoy it thanks to Soccer Republic on Twitter below:
