Premier League: Galactic Kane is our punters’ top pick to win Golden Boot

Closely followed by Mohammed Salah and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang...

It looks as if the footballing public are putting their faith in Harry Kane regaining the Premier League Golden Boot title he won in 2016 and 2017, despite him losing out to Liverpool’s Mohammed Salah last season.

After a stellar World Cup in which Kane finished atop the goalscoring charts, our punters are tipping the Englishman to outscore Salah in the division, with more individual bets placed on the Spurs forward than any other player.

There’s little to separate Salah (second) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (third) in terms of the number of bets placed on each, but Kane is streets ahead of the rest in that regard.

Harry Kane is 3/1 with paddypower to be PL top goalscorer in 2018/19

Then comes Sergio Aguero, who has roughly half the amount of bets as Salah and Aubameyang, followed at a distance by Romelu Lukaku, Roberto Firmino, Alexis Sanchez and Jamie Vardy.

Interestingly, the total number of individual bets placed on the latter quartet is lower than the total number placed on Kane.

It’s clear, therefore, that Kane is at the forefront of most people’s minds when it comes to the Top Goalscorer market – which is partly why he’s the 3/1 favourite.

To be honest, it’s hardly a surprise. On his day he’s the best striker in the league, so it stands to reason that he’ll probably score more goals than anyone else. Kane, now, is a player with a galactic reputation – and he will need to live up to that in 2018/19 given Tottenham’s absence of incoming transfers during the summer window.

Meanwhile at the other end of the spectrum, a whopping four (yes, four) bets have been confirmed on Danny Welbeck.

Which, perhaps, is equally as unsurprising as so many punters backing Kane. One person has backed Troy Deeney, with other punters going solo on Pascal Gross, Shane Long and Sam Vokes. Best of luck with that!
