International weeks can be a grim time for a football fan. With the season building to a climax and the World Cup to look forward to, this round of international friendlies seems an unnecessary break as the summer’s events come into view.
Last night’s round of fixture was livened up by plenty of goals though, and not many will have matched Georgia midfield threat Vako Qazaishvili’s effort against Estonia.
Picking the ball up deep, the San Jose Earthquakes midfielder rumbled the defence as he powered past challenges before jinking inside and applying a delicious outside-of-the-boot finish from the edge of the box.
His slaloming run left a trail of destruction, ending with a devastating, delicately-placed finish. Several Estonian defenders must have wished for the ground to open up and swallow them afterwards.

Scoring eight times in 33 international appearances, the 25-year-old clearly has a eye for goal, and the attacking midfielder may be familiar to Ireland fans from their frequent meetings over the years.
In particular, his cool finish in Tblisi last September cancelled out Shane Duffy’s opener in a 1-1 draw that rocked the foundations of the Boys in Green’s Russia 2018 qualifying campaign and sent their hopes of winning the group tumbling.
